The New England Patriots started out with a major problem. They could not find a home field to play on, they were playing their home games all over the city of Boston. They were using college fields and even baseball fields. However, in 1971 the New England Patriots moved their home games to Foxboro Stadium. The problem with stadium is that it was very purely kept. The stadium bleachers would freeze over when it got cold and the whole stadium would just become worn down from the cold winters of Boston. This would remain to be their home field until 2001 when the Patriots built Gillette Stadium.
When the new stadium was being designed, they had to put a larger amount of seating and more durable surfaces that would not get worn down in the cold winters of Boston. They decided that because the grass would be way to hard to keep alive to go with field turf. The first game played on the new field was against the nine and one Chicago Bears. The Patriots pulled a huge upset and some people said that this was the start of the Patriots, they were right. It is the home of the best team in football, the New England Patriots; the field is Gillette Stadium the home of the best.

The New England Patriots are my favorite NFL team! I had no idea that they have only had that stadium since 2001. I cannot believe that they were forced to play on college fields or even baseball fields! Fans would sure have to be dedicated in order to sand the frozen bleachers. Your post is really interesting!
ReplyDeletenice stadium.I had no idea the patriots didn’t have a set field when they first started out. Having to play on a different field each day must have been driving everyone crazy. When they did get their own stadium it was just as worst as not having a stadium to play in.
